This gemstone cut is easily the most challenging design Laura has undertaken thus far. One look at the rough gem and Laura knew, it HAD to be this design. 12 hours later and this masterpiece was complete. Lebourgeous Portuguese Cushion by Arya Akhavan is 158(!) faces of hypotnising, exquisite beauty. Danburite from this location truly sings in a design with lots of sparkle. It is a deep rectangular cushion design in attempt to capture the very pale pink colour. The stone will largely look colourless unless seen next to bright white.
This is not your ordinary cushion cut gemstone. The design Tartan by Marco Voltolini brings out the bright lively sparkle that Australian Topaz is known for! A series of triangular brilliant faces on the pavilion create innumerable flashes of light while the rectangle faces on the crown accentuate the squared edges of the gem. The stone has some visible gotheite needle inclusions, which suggests an O'Brian's Creek, Queensland origin. The rough gem was part of an old collection and only labelled broadly as Australian.
