Rainbow Lattice Sunstone
Rainbow Lattice Sunstone is one of the most spectacular new material finds of recent times. It is found at Harts Range, Northern Territory, Australia.
This gemstone displays geometric shaped bands of haemetite and ilmenite. When rotated, the bands flash startling iridescent rainbow colours, while the body gives off a moonstone-like sheen.
Transparent rainbow lattice sunstone suitable for faceting is occasionally found, and these pieces become something truly special. Cutting rainbow lattice sunstone is a rare treat.
Our material is sourced by our friend and skilled lapidary artist Ben from Gecko Stones.
Sapphire
The mineral family of corundum can be found in almost any colour. Red varieties are rubies, while every other colour are sapphires. Sapphires can have stunning parti (multiple) colours, either as a minor colour shift or a complete colour change. Some sapphires can also display a single or double asterism (star), as well as a rare trapiche (hexagonal) form.
Sapphire is one of the most durable gemstones for everyday wear, especially in rings and bracelets. Fine sapphires are found in many locations, such as Sri Lanka, USA, Thailand, Madagascar, and here in Australia.
The beauty and longevity of sapphire is truly breathtaking. A gem that stands the test of time.
Topaz
Elegant and enchanting, beautiful topaz occurs in soft icy blues, golden and peachy imperial shades, rare greenish and pink colours, as well as the exceptionally rare red. Deeper blues can be achieved with treatment.
Topaz in found worldwide, but it shares a special affinity with Australia. You can find them in the North at O’Briens Creek, Queensland, through to the South with the white and blue "Killiekrankie diamonds” topaz pebbles found on the beaches of Flinders Island, Tasmania.
Topaz is an under appreciated stone. We love it for its range of colours and its suitability to all jewellery and artistic applications. Topaz presents a bright and lively stone, when cut with the respect and love it deserves.
Zircon
Zircon is an astonishing gem with a beautiful sparkle and shine. The polish on a zircon is nearly blinding.
Zircon is a natural mineral and often confused with the man-made cubic zirconia. It can be found in commercial quantities in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Australia. Some of the oldest mineral specimens on Earth are zircons, dated to over 4 billion years old!
Zircon is available in many colours, including peach, rose, golden yellow, shades of orange, brown, red, and green. Blue can be achieved through via treatment. Colourless zircons quite effectively simulate diamonds.
Zircon can be brittle, so it is best suited to earrings, pendants, pins, or to cherish on its own as a radiant masterpiece. A stunning, blingy gem with presence.
